Medic Computer Systems, a Raleigh, N.C.-based vendor of physician practice management information systems, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of Script Systems from InfoMed Holdings, a Princeton, N.J.-based home healthcare software company.
The purchase, for $3 million in cash and assumption of certain liabilities, is subject to Script shareholder approval and other conditions, a joint statement said. Medic said it will continue to provide technical support for Script's practice management system.
The two companies also plan to jointly market their products to the home healthcare and practice management markets, the statement said.
John P. McConnell, Medic's president and chief executive officer, said the acquisition "is important to our overall strategic plan of acquiring regional companies with outstanding customer bases to be merged into Medic's growing organization in order to achieve our goal of having 100,000 physicians using our products and services by the year 2000."
