ROME, Ga.-Redmond Regional Medical Center here and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia have formed a joint venture with 20 primary-care physicians to develop an integrated delivery system. Healthcare Partners of Northwest Georgia is the fourth partnership deal for the Georgia Blues. The other networks are in Atlanta, Columbus and Savannah. Blues officials said that by the end of the year additional partnerships are expected to be completed in Athens, Augusta, Gainesville and Macon. Under the partnership, the Blues owns 51% of Healthcare Partners and Redmond Regional, and the physician group, Family Care Network, owns the remaining interest. Redmond Regional is a 201-bed for-profit hospital owned by Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp. It competes in Rome with 304-bed Floyd Medical Center, a public hospital that is affiliated with VHA, an Irving, Texas-based alliance.
