CARROLL, Iowa-St. Anthony Regional Hospital has launched a $2.7 million capital campaign designed to pay for a $10.8 million hospital expansion project. "By bringing these new services to St. Anthony, people can get high-quality healthcare, provided at a reasonable cost without having to travel long distances," St. Anthony's President Gary Riedmann said of the 74,000-square-foot project. The balance of the project will be financed through a $5 million loan and $3.1 million in the hospital's cash reserves. The 63-bed hospital will be increasing outpatient-care capacity and building a 42,000-square-foot community health center. The outpatient expansion includes new surgery space and expanded laboratory and radiology areas. The community center will house a radiation therapy cancer center, physicians' offices and a retail pharmacy. Additional space in the center will be available for recruiting new physicians to the rural western Iowa town.
