TAMPA, Fla.-Employers Purchasing Alliance, a healthcare purchasing group, has signed a three-year preferred vendor contract with Management Prescriptives, a healthcare information and education company. The contract offers a 10% to 15% discount to hospitals that use Management Prescriptives' Clini-Risk software program. Clini-Risk is a cost-containment tool that helps hospitals identify and reduce clinical errors. Employers Purchasing Alliance represents 400 businesses with 2 million employees and dependents through business coalitions in Florida, Georgia and Louisiana, said President Frank Brocato. Eleven hospitals in Tampa hold contracts with the alliance, Brocato said. Figures for the other coalitions were unavailable. Without the discount, hospitals pay $182,400 under three-year contracts for the use of Clini-Risk and support services (Jan. 2, p. 51).
