I am writing to express concern over the inference regarding American Medical International in a headline in the Nov. 7 issue (p. 88).
After nine years as a chief executive officer in the not-for-profit hospital sector, I chose to join AMI specifically because of the integrity of the company and its leadership-Robert O'Leary and John Casey. In my three years with AMI, I have been truly impressed with the consistent emphasis and education about AMI's values and the role those values play within the company.
We at AMI do not need to "learn ethics" from anyone. In fact, the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors could learn a great deal about the role of values in our industry by looking at AMI. I am proud to have worked for AMI and look forward to shaping a similar culture for our new company.
