BETHLEHEM, Pa.-Muhlenberg Hospital Center has entered negotiations with Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pa., on the development of a community-based network involving both organizations. The healthcare network would handle employer and insurer contracts for preventive, diagnostic, acute-care and rehabilitative services. Both hospitals would continue to be governed and operate independently. Representatives of the hospitals' administrative and medical staffs will discuss details of the proposed network during the next several months.
MEDIA, Pa.-Crozer-Keystone Health System and Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Education and Research Foundation have signed an academic affiliation agreement. Under the agreement, Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, Pa., a member of the Crozer-Keystone system, will provide medical education training programs to students and residents of Allegheny's Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. The agreement commits Allegheny and Crozer-Keystone to look at sharing new clinical programs and facilities.
TRENTON, N.J.-Helene Fuld Medical Center has signed a formal agreement to affiliate with New Bruns-wick, N.J.-based Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, the 418-bed teaching hospital of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Pending Federal Trade Commission approval, the affiliation will be official by the spring of 1995. Helene Fuld patients will have access to Robert Wood Johnson's speciality services such as cardiac care, oncology, pediatric subspecialties and neurology. In addition, Robert Wood Johnson's continuing medical education programs will be available to physicians and employees of 353-bed Helene Fuld.
