Thank you for the article on how capital costs are rising as hospitals fight for a piece of a rapidly shrinking pie ("Acquisitions tip scales," Aug. 15, p. 38).
I call this aggressive bricks-and-mortar frenzy a "Field of Dreams" strategy. In other words, if you build a hospital or clinic, the patients will come. Unfortunately, this only works in the movies.
