Charles S. Lauer, publisher of MODERN HEALTHCARE and corporate vice president of Crain Communications, will receive the "Distinguished Service Award" from the Alumni Association of the Ohio State University Graduate Program in Health Services Management and Policy.
Mr. Lauer will be honored Oct. 6 during the 19th annual National Health Care Management Institute meeting, in Columbus, Ohio. The conference, sponsored by the 600-member alumni association and the Ohio Hospital Association, also will celebrate the graduate program's 25th anniversary.
Mr. Lauer joins ranks with five others who have received the honor.
Among the past honorees is Bernard Lachner, founder of the OSU graduate program and former chief executive officer of Evanston (Ill.) Hospital.
"This award is something that is only given every five or so years, so it's indeed recognition of significant accomplishments," said Stephen Loebs, current chairman of the OSU graduate program.
"It recognizes individuals who have made unique and extraordinary contributions in health service management and policy," Mr. Loebs added. "(Mr. Lauer) and ...MODERN HEALTHCARE have certainly done that."
