Abbey Healthcare Group last week fired an undisclosed number of executives affiliated with its home infusion business, Total Pharmaceutical Care, and with former President and Chief Executive Officer Victor Chaltiel.
Abbey, in a press release last week, said it "has concluded that it was necessary to remove certain other members of (Mr. Chaltiel's) management team from positions, including certain TPC officers who were terminated for cause."
No further details were released.
Also last week, Abbey reaffirmed earlier charges accusing Mr. Chaltiel of making "defamatory" and "untrue" statements about the company in his $7 million complaint filed in state arbitration.
On July 5, the Costa Mesa, Calif.-based company filed a multimillion-dollar counterclaim against Mr. Chaltiel, alleging he "knowingly misrepresented various matters which were material in Abbey's decision to acquire (Mr. Chaltiel's company, Total Pharmaceutical Care)."
Abbey contends that Mr. Chaltiel inflated TPC's value during merger discussions last November. Abbey bought TPC last year for $197 million. Abbey abruptly fired Mr. Chaltiel as its president and CEO in February without explanation.
Neither Mr. Chaltiel nor his attorneys could be reached for comment.
