No provider networks have scheduled an accreditation survey with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, a JCAHO spokeswoman said last week, although they have expressed a strong interest in the new survey process, she said.
The JCAHO's board approved a set of network accreditation standards in January with the intention of surveying networks in the spring. In April, the JCAHO pushed back that goal to July (April 18, p. 16).
Also in April, the JCAHO dropped Chicago-based Sturm Rosenberg Cafferata as the marketing firm assigned to promote the new network accreditation program to providers. It has since hired Storandt Pann, a marketing and communications firm based in Western Springs, Ill., for the project.
The JCAHO has received more than 1,000 requests for applications from providers interested in going through the network accreditation process, said Cathy Barry-Ipema, JCAHO's communications director.
