John D. Hicks announced last week that he has resigned as president and chief executive officer of North Mississippi Health Services, Tupelo.
In a short written statement, Mr. Hicks said he wanted to pursue other interests. Mr. Hicks, 49, has been with the four-hospital system since 1984.
Gerald Wages, executive vice president of finance, has been appointed interim CEO until a replacement can be found.
Mr. Hicks has chaired the state healthcare reform task force.
He also is a past chairman of VHA, the Irving, Texas-based alliance.
