OrNda HealthCorp recorded a $37 million net loss, or 95 cents per share, for the third quarter ended May 31, compared with net income of $4.2 million, or 12 cents per share, during the year-ago period.
Revenues rose 34% to $330 million.
For the nine months, OrNda reported a net loss of $33 million, or 91 cents per share, compared with net income of $9.5 million, or 27 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Revenues climbed 26% to $883 million.
The Nashville, Tenn.-based hospital chain recorded $41 million in charges during the third quarter, $30 million of which are related to merger transaction costs. In April, OrNda completed a three-way, $575 million merger with Summit Health and American Healthcare Management. Also during the quarter, the hospital chain recorded an $8.3 million charge related to debt refinancing.
OrNda is the nation's fifth-largest investor-owned hospital chain, operating 48 hospitals in 17 states.
