FHP, a Fountain Valley, Calif.-based healthcare company, has agreed to assist in starting a managed-care program for Medicare beneficiaries in New York's Hudson River Valley.
The agreement, which was announced last week, calls for FHP to provide consulting services to the Kingston, N.Y.-based WellCare Management Group. FHP will help prepare WellCare's application to HCFA to become a Medicare risk contractor and develop a business plan, financial projections and marketing program.
Neither company disclosed terms of the deal.
FHP, a subsidiary of FHP International Corp., serves 350,000 Medicare beneficiaries. WellCare Management Group is the parent company of WellCare HMO, which serves 75,000 enrollees in the Hudson River Valley. The company expects to begin a Medicare managed-care program in January.
