And you think you have problems.
Medical Center Enterprise in Enterprise, Ala., offers a textbook case of workplace turmoil. The hospital, which recently was sold by Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp. to Quorum Health Group, has its fourth owner in two years.
About all Enterprise Executive Director John Robertson can do is joke about having "a standing order with the printer." But Mr. Robertson also is numbed by the challenge as he attempts to ensure that the hospital's 236 employees are concentrating on patient care.
After all, sick patients and their families really don't give a hoot who owns the hospital as long as they get quality care. In the frenzy of reform, administrators sometimes need to take a deep breath and refocus their attention on the hospital's No. 1 priority-patient-focused care.
