A Boston-based venture capital firm has agreed to purchase Bell Atlantic Healthcare Systems, an information systems vendor based in Greenbrae, Calif.
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
Information Partners, a company owned equally by Bain Capital and Dun and Bradstreet Enterprises, Information systems
plans to close on the Bell Atlantic sale in mid-May and rename the company Oacis Healthcare Systems, said Joanne Tessem, a spokeswoman for the vendor. Its parent corporation, Philadelphia-based Bell Atlantic Corp., has been trying to sell the healthcare systems division since last September.
The prospective new owners have named James McCord, a former top executive with Shared Medical Systems Corp., Malvern, Pa., as the new chief executive officer, Ms. Tessem said.
Mr. McCord will replace Michael Lake, who became CEO in August 1993 after the resignation of the company's founder, Donald Simborg, M.D. Mr. Lake did not return calls asking for information about what he will do next.
The company will be named after its Oacis line of data repository and system integration products.
