As part of a reorganization of its rural healthcare services, The Benedictine Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery, Yankton, S.D., said sponsorship of the community's St. Thomas More-St. Joseph Benedictine Health Centers in Canon City and Florence, Colo., would be transferred to the Sisters of Charity Health System, Cincinnati, which has operations in Colorado.
The Benedictines also said they would seek cosponorship with the Presentation Sisters of Abderdeen (S.D.) to provide governance, management and support services to Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton; St. Michael's Hospital in Tyndall, S.D.; and St. Benedict Health Center in Parkston, S.D.
Collaboration between the Catholic organizations will help "control healthcare costs while preserving access to care in the rural areas we serve," said John Porter, president of Presentation's health system.
