Joshua A. Nemzoff, who was lead negotiator for HealthTrust-The Hospital Co. in its pending deal to buy Holy Cross Health Services of Utah, has left to head a mergers and acquisitions group for Ponder & Co.
Since 1986, Bedford, Texas-based Ponder has been financial adviser on more healthcare transactions in dollar volume than any other firm, according to Newark, N.J.-based Securities Data Corp.
Because of the increasing level of mergers and acquisitions, Ponder decided to establish a separate unit to provide merger-related services. Mr. Nemzoff, a principal and senior vice president, will head the unit, which will be based in Nashville, Tenn.
Mr. Nemzoff had been with HealthTrust for about a year. Before joining the chain, he was regional director of hospital mergers and acquisitions for Ernst & Young's Miami office.
