Rosemary Baczewski

Greater Hudson Valley Health System

Rosemary Baczewski is responsible for the overall direction of quality management, performance improvement and patient advocacy for the Greater Hudson Valley Health System. She is also responsible for ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission standards, Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and National Quality Forum (NQF) initiatives.With an extensive background in Process Improvement, Ms. Baczewski has worked in the healthcare industry for more than 20 years. Prior to joining the System in 2011, Ms. Baczewski served as the Senior Director of the RN Labor Management Initiative with the League of Voluntary Hospitals and Homes/1199 SEIU Training and Education Fund. She also served as Director of Process Management for Horizon BlueCross/BlueShield of New Jersey, Executive/Managing Consultant for Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems and as a Consulting Director for McFaul & Lyons.

Ms. Baczewski has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Columbia University and a Master's certificate in Strategic Growth and Change from Columbia University Graduate School of Business. She is a Master Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma and is a Lean Expert.
 

Bruce Swords, MD, PhD
Chief Physician Executive
Cone Health

Bruce Swords, MD, PhD, is Chief Physician Executive for Cone Health. He joined Cone Health as chief medical officer 2015. Swords collaborates with other physicians, leaders and care providers across Cone Health to further improve quality, safety and knowledge-driven, patient-centered care. 

Swords joined Cone Health in the primary care division of LeBauer HealthCare in 1996 and became chief of that division in 1999. He became vice president and chief medical information officer in 2009 and was instrumental in Cone Health’s successful move to an electronic health record. 

Swords earned his medical degree and PhD at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He performed his residency at the Mayo Graduate School. Swords is board certified in internal medicine.

Swords has completed a Chief Medical Officer Fellowship with Health Management Academy. He was an inaugural graduate of the Physician Leadership Academy, Center for Creative Leadership, in 2013.

He serves on the Board of Directors of Advanced Home Care.
 

Merry Heath, RN, MSN
Chief Nursing Officer
Piedmont Fayette Hospital

Merry Heath, RN, MSN, began serving as the chief nursing officer at Piedmont Fayette in February of 2016. 

Merry has been a member of the Piedmont team since 2001. She began her time with Piedmont at Piedmont Fayette. There she served as the Director of Emergency and Critical Care Services from 2001 to 2008, the charge nurse of the Ambulatory Surgery Unit from 2008 to 2011 and a service excellence coach for Inpatient Services from 2011 to 2014. From 2014 to 2016, Merry served as the director of Inpatient Services at Piedmont Newnan. Before coming to Piedmont, Merry also served in roles at South Fulton Medical Center and Cartersville Hospital. 

Merry earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Clayton State University. She also earned a master of science in nursing with a concentration on Nursing Leadership and Organizational Management from American Sentinel University.
 

Archelle Georgiou, MD
Physician, Advocate, Author

Archelle Georgiou is a physician, healthcare industry expert, reporter, and author. But colleagues think of her as a consumer advocate. Since 2012, Dr. Georgiou has been a strategic advisor to Healthgrades and helps the company inspire consumers to use objective data when selecting their care providers. Archelle is adjunct faculty and Executive in Residence at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management. In 2017, she published her first book, “Health Care Choices: 5 Steps to Getting the Medical Care You Want and Need”. Previously, Dr. Georgiou served as the Chief Medical Officer of UnitedHealthcare, where she changed the company's bureaucratic policies and made healthcare easier for patients and doctors. Dr. Georgiou earned her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and was board-certified in Internal Medicine before pivoting her career to managed care in order to have a broader impact on the healthcare system.
