    Burnout among the clinical workforce has been a major challenge in healthcare for some time but the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated the problem. Surveys over the last year show burnout is high as healthcare workers deal with the heightened stress of extreme and unsafe conditions. 

    If organizations weren’t addressing burnout before 2020, they should now in order to retain vital staff now and for the future.

Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President for Health Affairs and CEO of the University of Miami Health System, an academic medical center with more than $2.5 billion/year in revenue, 1,300 physicians, and over 10,000 employees. In this role, he led the health system to its two best years of financial performance as well as to its highest levels of inpatient and ambulatory volumes, quality, and patient satisfaction.

    Jeff Richards is COO and co-founder of SnapMedTech, Inc dba as SnapNurse. Jeff attended Emory University school of medicine’s anesthesia program and received his Master’s in Medical Science in Anesthesia in 1998. Jeff spent 19 years working at Grady Health System, the largest public health teaching and trauma hospital in the southeast. From 2008-2017, Jeff was the Director of Anesthesia at Grady Hospital, working as clinician, educator and department leader. In 2017, after receiving his MBA, he joined Cherie Kloss to co-found SnapNurse and has spent the last four years developing and growing the business to deliver much needed healthcare providers all across the country. SnapNurse has established itself as the largest and most successful digital staffing platform in the United States with over 150,000 healthcare providers in the database.
