    On this webinar, experts in the care of older adults and representatives from two health systems will discuss how they are integrating core principles from the Age-Friendly Health Systems movement into their responses to COVID-19. The webinar will explore how age-friendly care can address the pandemic’s disproportionate effect on older adults. 

    Age-Friendly Health Systems is an initiative of The John A. Hartford Foundation and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, in partnership with the American Hospital Association and the Catholic Health Association of the United States. 

    Attendees for this webinar will gain:

    1. Information and guidance on age-friendly care during the COVID-19 pandemic
    2. Stories of how health systems are using the age-friendly health systems framework to respond to COVID-19
    3. How age-friendly care improves outcomes for older adults and maximizes ROI for health systems, both under traditional circumstances and during the pandemic

    Deborah A. Burton, PhD, MN, RN

    Providence St. Joseph Health; Renton, Washington

    Deborah Burton is Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for Providence St. Joseph Health, a 7-state comprehensive health system in the western U.S. that employs over 39,000 nurses and operates 50 hospitals, 879 clinics, 2 health plans and over 70 community-based services. She is responsible for nursing and interdisciplinary strategy across Providence, including clinical quality, patient centered care across the care continuum, strategic workforce and leadership development, nursing research, Magnet and Pathway to Excellence nursing excellence designation; through the Providence St. Joseph Nursing Institute. She also directs the University of Providence BSN program.

    Marie Cleary-Fishman is Vice President of Clinical Quality at the Health Research & Educational Trust, the educational affiliate of the American Hospital Association. She has been with HRET since March of 2014 and currently manages a diverse portfolio of federally and privately funded projects. Marie has provided leadership in the following projects: Patient Engagement in the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA - PCORI), HUDDLE for Care (The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation), the Strategic Innovation Engine (IMPAQ), Project ACHIEVE (University of Kentucky), Patient Safety in Ambulatory Settings (AHRQ), and has contributed in her role as team member to Conflict and Optimal Resolution (CANDOR - AHRQ), HEN 2.0 (CMS) in addition to several data-oriented projects.  

    Min Ji Kwak, MD, MS, DrPH
    Assistant Professor, Geriatric and Palliative Medicine
    McGovern Medical School, UTHealth

    Dr. Min Ji Kwak is an Assistant Professor of the Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine at McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Her clinical practice is focused on geriatric co-management with cardiology team to prevent and manage delirium in the Heart and Vascular Institutes at the Memorial Hermann Hospital. Currently, she leads Age-Friendly Health System initiatives at the Memorial Hermann Hospital with the assistance of the University of Texas Consortium on Aging. 

    Andria Moore, MN, RN, CPHQ, CCRN-K
    Nursing Practice & Quality Program Manager
    Providence Health and Services

    Andria Moore is the Nursing Practice and Quality Program Manager for Providence Health and Services. Her passion is to drive outstanding patient outcomes by building relationships and trusted networks; embracing technology and innovation; and partnering with key leaders identify strategies and tactics to achieve results. As a nurse leader she strives to ensure that each nurse she works with has the knowledge, skills, and supporting resources to provide compassionate, safe, high quality care. In her time off she enjoys spending time with her husband, 18-month-old son, and black lab.

    Terry Fulmer, PhD, RN, FAAN, is the president of The John A. Hartford Foundation in New York City, a foundation dedicated to improving the care of older adults. She serves as the foundation’s chief strategist and her vision resulted in the creation of the Age-Friendly Health Systems movement. Dr. Fulmer is nationally and internationally recognized as a leading expert in geriatric care and is known for conceptualization and development of the Nurses Improving Care of Health System Elders (NICHE) program and research on the topic of elder mistreatment and abuse.
