Welcome to the Health Care Hall of Fame recognition program. This page will provide answers to frequently asked questions and provide basic information about this program.

General Program Questions:

Q: What is this program about?
A: This program honors men and women who have made outstanding contributions to healthcare in this country and around the world.

Q: When is the call for entries?
A: Nominations are now being accepted for the 2010 program.

Q: What is the eligibility criteria?
  • Individual must no longer be working full-time in the healthcare industry or a profession allied to the healthcare industry for at least two years.
  • Individual must not be employed by or under contract with Modern Healthcare, the ACHE or any organization or corporation that sponsors the Health Care Hall of Fame.
  • Individual must not have been nominated more than five times for induction into the Health Care Hall of Fame.
  • Q: What is the award criteria?
  • Individual must have successfully led one or more organizations in the healthcare industry or a profession allied to the healthcare industry (e.g., provider, supplier, academia, association, etc.)
  • Individual must have made a lasting contribution to the healthcare industry and/or the patients served by the healthcare industry.
  • Have made numerous significant contributions to the healthcare field at the local, state, and national levels.
  • That contribution must be extraordinary or far exceed the expectations for someone in the candidate's position.
  • Individual must have assumed a leadership position in the healthcare industry outside of the candidate's own organization or company.
  • Individual must have demonstrated a willingness to share his or her expertise with others in the healthcare industry.
  • Individual must have served as a role model or mentor to others in the healthcare industry.
  • Individual must have showed the ability or influence to effect change in the healthcare industry.
  • Q: When is the deadline?
    A: The program deadline is January 4, 2010.

    Q: Is there a fee to enter/nominate?
    A: No fee.

    Q: Where do I submit the nomination?
    A: Please send nominating letters and background information on the candidates to:

    Q: Can I be notified of next year’s call for entries?
    A: Yes. Click here and send us an e-mail to be added to our notification database. Be sure to indicate what awards program you are interested in receiving information about.

    Recognition:

    Q: Will entrants be notified if they win/lose?
    A: Winners will be contacted. Non-winning entrants will not be contacted.

    Q: How are the winners recognized?
    A: Winners will be profiled in the March 23, 2010 issue of Modern Healthcare.

    Q: Will there be an event?
    A: Winners will be honored at the annual Health Care Hall of Fame dinner to be held in conjunction with the American College of Healthcare Executives' Annual Congress in Chicago.
