About the Excellence in Governance Program


ABOUT
This awards program, formerly known as Trustee of the Year, has been improved to recognize healthcare trustees and/or directors who have made outstanding individual achievements serving on governing boards for organizations from all sectors of the healthcare industry. These exceptional board members are instrumental in guiding the growth and development of healthcare within their communities and across the country.

ELIGIBILTY
Individual must currently be serving on a provider or corporate governing board, which includes: non-providers – i.e. insurers, device-makers, pharmaceutical companies, suppliers or other vendors.

KEY DATES & DEADLINES

  • OCTOBER 20, 2014 – Excellence in Governance opens for nominations
  • DECEMBER 19, 2014 – Deadline for Excellence in Governance Nominations
  • JANUARY 9, 2015 – The six winners from each category will be notified by phone or email
  • FEBRUARY 16, 2015 – Winners announced in Modern Healthcare magazine and on ModernHealthcare.com.

JUDGING CRITERIA
Two categories, broken down into sub-categories will be judged and a total of six winners will be selected (one from each sub-category):

  • Provider Governance
    • Healthcare system (for-profit or not-for-profit, regardless of size)
    • Large provider organizations (for-profit or not-for-profit hospitals with more than 500 staffed beds or other providers with more than 5,000 employees)
    • Mid-size provider organizations (for-profit or not-for-profit hospitals with 101-500 staffed beds or other providers with 1,000 to 5,000 employees)
    • Small provider organizations (for-profit or not-for-profit hospitals with 100 beds or fewer or other providers with fewer than 1,000 employees)
  • Corporate Governance (non-providers – i.e. insurers, device-makers, pharmaceutical companies, suppliers or other vendors)
    • Publicly traded company (regardless of size)
    • Privately traded company (regardless of size)

Nominations will be reviewed and judged based on their CV or resume, as well as contributions and achievements in the following 4 criteria that is detailed in a 1,000 word maximum summary:

  • Financial Performance
  • Strategic Planning
  • Ethics/Social Responsibility
  • Community Relations

REQUIRED MATERIALS/DOCUMENTATION

  • Materials needed to nominate include:
    • CV or resume of the nominee
    • No more than 1,000 words detailing why the candidate has been successful in contributing to the following 5 objectives:
      • Financial Performance
      • Strategic Planning
      • Ethics/Social Responsibility
      • Community Relations

FEE
There is no applicable fee to nominate for this recognition program.

EVENT
