The healthcare industry is full of executives who define themselves by leading efforts to change lives and contribute to their communities. Modern Healthcare's Community Leadership Awards will recognize these leaders while bringing attention to the worthy causes they support.
Nominations for the 2013 Community Leadership Awards closed on June 21, 2013
General Program Questions
Q: What is this program about?
A: The award honors top healthcare executives for their work to improve the health and well-being of people and patients in the communities they serve.
Q: What are the criteria?
A: To be eligible for the award, a nominee must be a CEO, president, administrator or top executive of a healthcare organization from any sector of the industry, and the volunteer work must have occurred within the past 24 months. To participate, a nominee's organization must submit a letter explaining how the nominee meets and/or exceeds the three criteria below, along with a resume/bio/CV. Supporting documentation such as letters of recommendation and digital content such as photos/videos should also be submitted. Candidates may not nominate themselves.
The entries will be judged on three criteria:
- Extent of departure from core job responsibilities
- Voluntary nature of the work outside of the organization or corporation
- Demonstrated positive impact of the work
Modern Healthcare will select as many as 10 finalists from the pool of all applicants. The finalists and their submissions will be posted on ModernHealthcare.com on August 5. Readers at that time will be able to vote for their choice among the nominees through September 20. One winner and several honorable mentions will be selected with 50% of the outcome based on reader votes and the other 50% controlled by Modern Healthcare. Modern Healthcare reserves the right to make the final determination of the winner and honorable mentions.

A: No fee required.
Q: How are the winners recognized?
A: The winner and honorable mentions will be profiled in a special section of the November 18 issue of Modern Healthcare. Additional multimedia content, including a video feature of the winner, will be posted on ModernHealthcare.com
