The CMS on Tuesday heralded a lower prevalence of antipsychotic drug use in the nation's nursing homes, which the agency attributes to a dementia-care program it launched last year.
According to the agency, data released on the Nursing Home Compare website in July showed that nursing homes are using antipsychotic drugs less and pursuing more patient-centered treatment for dementia and other behavioral healthcare.

Rogue Internet pharmacies dispense medications without prescriptions, sell drugs that are counterfeit, expired or improperly labeled, and violate a slew of other laws, a new Government Accountability Office report says.
Such pharmacies have led to investigations by state and federal regulators, who told the GAO that there are “substantial challenges” in investigating and prosecuting these outfits, many of which are internationally based.

Job cuts in healthcare are hardly rare these days, but St. Vincent Health's newly announced layoffs in Indiana will certainly grab some eyeballs.
St. Vincent, a Roman Catholic provider and part of St. Louis-based Ascension Health Alliance, announced it would cut 865 jobs, according to the Indianapolis Business Journal.
