Focus on employees | Kootenai emphasizes worker health
By Ed Finkel | October 19, 2011
It's not uncommon for healthcare organizations to take particular care in focusing on employees' health given the consistency with their overall mission, but it's likely that few can match the breadth of initiatives under way at 246-bed Kootenai Health in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.“We view our employees as our single most important asset. We treat them like extended family,” says Jon Ness, CEO of Kootenai. “There's a lot of employee longevity here, and there's a lot of history. … That may sound corny, but it really is about treating employees respectfully.”

Memorial Healthcare Poem
By Anthony Ingram, senior data center analyst, Information Technology Department | September 27, 2011
'Twas a warm day in August I first strode through these doors,I remember it vividly it was 1994.I'll be here for a few years I murmured down low,Before anyone knows it I'll be on the go.Little did I know that with each passing day,This place of caring and sharing would compel me to stay. From our most knowledgeable doctors striving to cure all who ail,To our compassionate nurses whose smiles never fail. From all my co-workers doing their part sight unseen,To the hard-working people keeping everything clean.
