Blumenthal steps down as national IT czar

Dr. David Blumenthal announced that he would be stepping down from his role as national coordinator for health information technology, roughly two years after President Barack Obama appointed him in March 2009. Key duties during his tenure included dealing with the rollout of the federal government's meaningful-use requirements for IT and ongoing implementation of EHR incentive payments.
