The consulting firm has planned for his resignation for many years and created a succession plan in 2006, according to a joint statement released by CEO B.G. Porter and newly appointed President Debbie Ritchie.
Studer told the Pensacola News Journal that he wants to spend more time on community benefit efforts with his wife.
In a healthcare career spanning more than 30 years, Studer is a respected industry leader, frequently speaking at national conferences.
Modern Healthcare awarded Studer the first Marketing Visionary IMPACT Award in August 2014. He has also twice been named to Modern Healthcare's 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare list.
Studer Group was acquired by Chicago-based Huron Consulting Group last year for $325 million. The deal created an operation with more than 1,500 employees. The combined companies have an annual revenue of $904 million.
Studer Group alone has partnered with more than 750 hospitals.
