Dr. Troy Sybert has taken over the top physician role at Capella Healthcare
, the for-profit system announced. He started as chief medical officer on Sept. 1.
Previously, Sybert, 47, was the chief quality and medical information officer at Wellmont Health System
, Kingsport, Tenn., since 2010. He also served as CMO of the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
“With his impressive education and experience in both medicine and business, Dr. Sybert brings outstanding qualifications to this position,” Capella CEO Michael Wiechart said in a release
. “He is a proven leader whose work has resulted in the improvement of care, enhanced physician leadership and the development of patient-centric delivery systems.”
As CMO, Sybert oversees Capella's quality and patient-safety initiatives, as well as the company's National Physician Leadership Group, which brings together Capella's medical staff to help decide future goals.
