Corizon Health, a for-profit provider of healthcare services at prisons
, has named Scott Bowers president and COO, effective Aug. 4.
Most recently, Bowers, 43, was president and CEO of UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Tennessee, a Medicaid managed-care plan within UnitedHealth Group
. He also served as president and CEO of UnitedHealthcare
's mid-Atlantic subsidiary.
“Scott is a highly regarded healthcare professional who understands our mission and will help us fulfill it,” Corizon CEO Dr. Woodrow Myers Jr. said in a news release.
Corizon, based in Brentwood, Tenn., and predominantly backed by private-equity firm Beecken Petty O'Keefe & Co., provides healthcare to inmates in more than 550 prisons across the country.
