Humana names Kay senior VP, innovation chief

Humana announced that Christopher Kay has been appointed senior VP and chief innovation officer of the Louisville, Ky.-based insurer, effective March 17.

Kay's primary responsibility will be to focus on innovations in personalized health designed to simplify the healthcare experience and improve health outcomes. Kay joins Humana from Citi Ventures, Citigroup's global corporate venturing arm, which he joined in 2007. Kay was managing director and CEO, leading efforts to improve the customer banking experience through digital, mobile and data technologies and services.

"Chris is a keen innovator with a passion for creating new businesses in large organizations, and for launching products and services that enhance the consumer experience," President and CEO Bruce Broussard said in a news release. "He brings a wealth of experience in consumer-facing industries to a pivotal role that is vital to Humana's future success."
