SpecialtyCare, which provides clinical services to more than 825 hospitals
and health systems in the U.S. and internationally, named Melvin Hall chief executive as J. Michael Mauldin stepped down as chairman and CEO.
Hall joins the Nashville-based company after a 16-year career with Press Ganey Associates
, where he served as president and CEO for his last nine years with the firm. Since leaving Press Ganey in 2009, Hall founded an angel investing and advising firm for the healthcare industry known as Foster Hall, and also sat on the boards of several healthcare companies.
“Mel is quite familiar with SpecialtyCare, having served on its board of directors since 2011,” Marc Saiontz
, managing director at American Securities, SpecialtyCare's lead investor, said in a news release. “He is an experienced CEO who understands the healthcare industry and has demonstrated remarkable talent for creating efficient environments and strong organizational cultures.”
Hall replaces Mauldin, who left the role March 11, after being with the company for four years. Mauldin joined SpecialtyCare in 2010 as CFO and also served as COO before moving into the CEO position in 2012.
“Mike has dedicated himself to expanding our clinical and operational framework, helping us integrate several important acquisitions and strengthening our key value propositions,” Saiontz said in the release. “We are grateful for Mike's service over the years and wish him all the best.”Follow Rachel Landen on Twitter: @MHrlanden
