A New Hampshire woman has filed a lawsuit claiming she was wrongfully fired from a hospice after making allegations about fraudulent billing.
Laurie Turner of Concord filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Concord against Amedisys Holdings, the Louisiana-based parent company of Beacon Hospice.
Turner's attorney, Benjamin King, told the
Concord Monitor that Turner was fired from Beacon Hospice in Concord last November for complaining about improper billing practices at the facility. He said Turner will likely seek compensation for lost wages, attorney's fees and emotional damages.
The complaint alleges improper billing only at Beacon's Concord facility, not at any of the company's 23 other New England locations.
The company's lawyer and the director of operations at the Concord facility didn't return phone calls seeking comment Friday.
