Bret Kelsey, chief revenue officer at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford, discusses the challenges hospitals face as they work to meet the October 2014 deadline to switch to ICD-10. Modern Healthcare reporter Beth Kutscher interviewed Kelsey during the Healthcare Financial Management Association's National Institute in Orlando, Fla. Kelsey says planning and physician education are key to avoiding losing revenue as a result of the complex transition to the new diagnosis and procedure codes.
