Alex Mendez was given a more expansive role and a new title at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Fla. Mendez, who joined the hospital in 2001 as senior VP and CFO, is now executive VP of operations and CFO.
Mendez, 44, was one of
Modern Healthcare's Up & Comers in 2007. Before joining Mount Sinai, he worked for HCA's Kendall Regional Medical Center in Miami and then Cedars Medical Center, which HCA sold to the University of Miami in 2007.
Mount Sinai President and CEO Steven Sonenreich, in a news release announcing the promotion, credited Mendez with the success of several initiatives, including managing the hospital's turnaround efforts and refinancing $133 million in debt in 2012.
