Netstmart, an Overland Park, Kan.-based healthcare software company, has acquired Defran Systems, a New York-based developer of case, clinical and financial management software.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, according to a spokeswoman for Defran Systems. The transaction closed Dec. 31.
Netsmart works with mental-health and addiction-treatment agencies, psychiatric hospitals, mental-health practices and public health departments, while Defran Systems' clients include mental-health agencies, group homes and substance-abuse centers.
The deal is expected to support Netsmart's plan to provide a national clinical and operational benchmarking service, the company said.
"The addition of the Defran solutions to our portfolio allows us to offer a solution to the smaller providers at a price point they can afford while at the same time giving them access to a comprehensive range of tools necessary to participate in care coordination, health information exchanges, health homes, mobile care, physical health integration, medication management and optimized revenue-cycle management," Netsmart CEO Michael Valentine said in a
news release announcing the deal.
In August,
Netsmart acquired Behavioral Pathway Systems, a benchmarking firm that counts addiction treatment facilities and community behavioral health providers among its clients. Terms of that deal were not disclosed.
Defran has 50 employees. The spokeswoman declined to disclose the company's revenue.
