Inova Alexandria (Va.) Hospital CEO Christine Candio has been nominated by the American College of Healthcare Executives as the group's 2013-14 chairwoman-elect.
ACHE will conduct its election during its 56th Congress on Healthcare Leadership from March 11-14 in Chicago. Upon election, Candio, 51, would serve a three-year term that starts with a year as chairwoman-elect, another as chairwoman and the final year as immediate-past chairwoman.
Inova named Candio, a registered nurse, as CEO of the 334-bed hospital in February 2008. Since 2010, she's also served as an ACHE governor. Gayle Capozzalo, executive VP, strategy and system development at Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health System, currently serves as ACHE chairwoman.
Candio would
replace Diana Smalley, regional president of Chesterfield, Mo.-based Mercy's Oklahoma communities, who currently serves as chairwoman-elect.
