Karen Davis, outgoing president of the Commonwealth Fund, was named Eugene and Mildred Lipitz professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Davis, who in November 2011 announced she would step down as head of the Commonwealth Fund
effective the end of this year, also will be director of the Roger C. Lipitz Center for Integrated Health Care
, according to a news release.
In both positions, she replaces Dr. Chad Boult, who recently left to head the Program on Improving Healthcare Systems at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute in Washington, according to the release.
Davis had worked at Johns Hopkins prior to joining the Commonwealth Fund two decades ago, according to the release. “To say we are thrilled to have Karen back at Hopkins is an understatement,” said Ellen MacKenzie, Fred and Julie Soper professor and chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management, in the release. “Her leadership, vision and expertise will form the new bedrock of the Roger C. Lipitz Center and define the center’s course for generations to come,” she said.
