Health Management Associates, Naples. Fla., is attempting to get ahead of a negative “60 Minutes” story scheduled to air on Sunday by preparing investors for the potential negative publicity.
The publicly traded system said in a
news release that it will hold a conference call and webcast Friday morning to refute information that “wrongly portrays the company in a negative light.” It did not specify the topic of the segment, but noted that an executive editor from “60 Minutes” confirmed plans to air the story this weekend.
The system will also release data related to the call on the investor relations section of its website immediately prior to the presentation, according to the release. The call is scheduled for 9 a.m. ET.
