Banner Medical Group, Phoenix, named Dr. J.P. Valin chief medical officer for clinical practice and Dr. Ed Clarke as CMO for clinical operations for Banner's group practice, which operates in seven states served by the group's affiliated health system, Banner Health.

Both are new positions.

Valin, whose age was unavailable, is currently CMO for Banner's Western region, and in his new role will supervise the chair and vice-chairs of clinical disciplines from an office in Greeley, Colo., according to an e-mailed news release.

Clarke, whose age was unavailable, currently is a medical informaticist for Banner Health and will be charged with overseeing clinical operations performance and supervision of the medical groups practice site physician leaders, according to the release. He will work out of Phoenix.

The names of Valin's and Clarke's predecessors, if there are any, were unavailable.
