Lakeland (Fla.) Regional Health System named Dr. J. Scott Swygert chief quality officer and chief medical information officer.

Since 2007, Swygert, a hospitalist, has served as Lakeland Regional's medical director of hospitalist services, according to a Lakeland Regional news release. In 2011, he was appointed Lakeland Regional's chairman of medicine.

Swygert will maintain his clinical duties in his new role. He joined the system as a hospitalist at Watson Clinic in 1996 and was "instrumental in Lakeland Regional's comprehensive electronic health-record implementation," according to the release. His age was unavailable at deadline.
