The TriZetto Group has tapped Dr. Jeff Rose, former VP of clinical excellence and informatics for 76-hospital Ascension Health, to serve in the newly created position of chief medical information officer of the company's physician market business unit.

Rose, 59, will be charged with helping improve provider product offerings for the Denver-based health information technology vendor, according to a news release.

Rose assumed his previous role at St. Louis-based Ascension Health in 2004 and has overseen health information exchange initiatives, health IT deployment and informatics-related programs for the system for eight years. Before that, he served as CMO of Cerner Corp. and CMO of Health Language.

He was also named to Modern Healthcare's annual list of the Top 25 Clinical Informaticists in 2010 and 2011.
