Don May has left his post as vice president for policy at the American Hospital Association for a job with the Farragut Square Group, a Washington-based healthcare consultancy.

May will serve as the group's managing director, according to a Farragut Square news release (PDF). He spent 12 years with the AHA, working with Congress to help develop legislation and often serving as a spokesman. He left the organization last month.

“Don May made many important contributions to the AHA and was a valued member of our team, and we wish him well,” an e-mailed AHA statement said.

May also served from 1995 to 1998 as assistant hospital program administrator for the Ohio Medicaid Program. Farragut Square was founded in 2011 and also has an office in New York. The company also named former lobbyist Darrell McKigney as vice president.
