Southern Regional Medical Center, a 317-bed hospital in Riverdale, Ga., has entered into a management-services agreement with three-hospital Emory Healthcare, Atlanta, effective Oct. 1.
Per the terms of the agreement, Emory will contract-manage Southern Regional and integrate the hospital into many of its existing improvement initiatives. Also, Emory will provide guidance on Southern Regional's “quality, financial and operational direction,” according to a news release. Southern Regional's board of directors will retain final say over such decisions, however.
The deal will also give Southern Regional future opportunities to collaborate with Emory on health education initiatives, according to the announcement.
“Formalizing a management agreement is key to Southern Regional working in the Emory Healthcare network of providers,” Jim Crissey, Southern Regional’s president and CEO, said in the release. “Over the next year, we’ll undergo the greatest transformational change in the organization’s 41-year history as we strive to implement many of Emory’s quality programs and operational standards.”
