The first thing visitors see upon arrival at the UC San Diego Health System's Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center in La Jolla is a “welcoming garden." And thanks to the lobby's vast “window wall” below they continue to see it well into the interior of the building where it serves as a tool to help visitors navigate the facility. The extensive green space an orientation that maximizes natural light and the use of environmentally sustainable construction materials helped the project earn LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
