Saying no to proposed tax supporting increase in public health funding

Nearly half of respondents to a Modern Healthcare online poll strongly oppose a the idea of a new tax to finance a large boost in public health funding.

Poll question: The Institute of Medicine has called for doubling public health funding to $24 billion per year, perhaps financed by a new healthcare tax. Do you support or oppose such a tax?

Strongly oppose: 46%

Strongly support: 21%

Somewhat support: 14%

It depends on size of the tax: 12%

Somewhat oppose: 7%
