Nominate physician entrepreneurs

Our sister publication, Modern Physician, is now accepting nominations for the fifth annual Physician Entrepreneur of the Year award. The award recognizes physicians who have made their mark on the business side of healthcare.

To be eligible for the award, a candidate must meet three criteria. The nominee must:
  • Hold a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree.
  • Own in whole or in part a current business serving the healthcare industry, or lead or manage a business serving the healthcare industry.
  • Be able to demonstrate the financial or market success of that business.
To apply for the award, a nominee or supporting organization must submit the following materials:
  • A cover letter of no more than three pages in length that explains the business and candidate's role in that business.
  • The candidate's resume, CV or biography.
  • Reports or documents demonstrating the financial or market success of that business. Reports or documents must include actual financial results.
  • A color photograph of the candidate.

An editorial review board consisting of Modern Physician senior editors will evaluate the submissions with the assistance of an independent accounting firm, which will review the submitted financial reports for accuracy.

The submission deadline for this year's award program is May 25.

Modern Physician will announce and profile the Physician Entrepreneur of the Year for 2012 in the Aug. 6 issue. The announcement and profile also will appear in the Aug. 6 Modern Healthcare. The recipient will be honored at the annual meeting of the Physician Hospitals of America, to be held Sept. 19-21 in Austin, Texas.

Nominations may be sent to John Thomas, chief of editorial operations, Modern Physician, 150 N. Michigan Ave, Chicago, Ill., 60601. Material may be submitted electronically to jthomas@modernhealthcare.com or moddoc@crain.com.
