The healthcare industry is rife with good works by healthcare executives who volunteer time through their jobs to help others. In recognition of those efforts, Modern Healthcare has created the
Community Leadership Award. The award honors top healthcare executives for their work through the organizations and corporations they run to improve the health and well-being of people, patients, communities or community members.
Nominations for Modern Healthcare's inaugural Community Leadership Award are now open. The submission deadline is May 18. To be eligible for the award, a nominee must be a CEO, president, administrator or top executive of a healthcare organization or corporation from any sector of the industry. Also, the volunteer work must have occurred within the past 24 months.
To participate, a nominee's organization or corporation must submit a letter explaining how the nominee meets and/or exceeds the three criteria below, a resume/bio/CV and supporting documentation. Supporting documentation may include letters of recommendation and digital content such as photos, videos and audio files. Candidates may not nominate themselves.
The entries will be judged on extent of departure from core job responsibilities; voluntary nature of the work outside of the organization or corporation; and demonstrated positive impact of the work.
Modern Healthcare will select as many as 10 finalists from the pool of applicants. The finalists and their submissions will be posted on ModernHealthcare.com on July 16. At that time, readers will be able to vote through Sept. 7 for their choice among the nominees. One winner and several honorable mentions will be selected with 50% of the outcome based on reader votes and the other 50% controlled by Modern Healthcare. Modern Healthcare reserves the right to resolve all voting irregularities and to make the final determination of the winner and honorable mentions.
Modern Healthcare will profile the winner and honorable mentions in a special section of the Nov. 19 issue of Modern Healthcare.
