Modern Healthcare's fifth annual Best Places to Work in Healthcare recognition program is now under way. The program, co-sponsored by the Studer Group, honors workplaces in healthcare that enable employees to perform at their optimum level to provide patients and customers with the best possible care and services.

On behalf of Modern Healthcare, the Best Companies Group, a Harrisburg, Pa.-based firm that conducts regional “best places to work” programs around the country, will conduct two surveys of healthcare companies that volunteer to participate. The first is a questionnaire for a participating employer. The second is a satisfaction survey of a company's employees. For more details on the two questionnaires, please visit our website at modernhealthcare.com/bestplaces.

Participation is open to all healthcare organizations and companies in all sectors of the industry with a minimum of 25 full-time employees. Participation is free to organizations and companies that complete the process electronically. There is a fee for those that submit on paper.

Healthcare organizations and companies that participate in the program will receive a free participation report. Participants also will be able to buy a full assessment feedback report from the Best Companies Group.

The deadline to register for the 2012 program is May 4.

In July, Modern Healthcare will announce the names, in alphabetical order, of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare in three categories by company size: small companies with 99 or fewer employees; medium-sized companies with 100-999 employees; and large companies with 1,000 or more employees.

The Best Places to Work in Healthcare will be honored at a dinner on Oct. 9 in Nashville. At the dinner, Modern Healthcare will reveal the rank order of the recipients in each category. The ranked recipients will appear in a special supplement to be published Oct. 15.

The supplement also will recognize the best places to work by three industry segments: providers, suppliers and payers. A daylong Best Places to Work in Healthcare educational conference will precede the dinner.
