WellPoint, Indianapolis, terminated Brian Sassi, who was executive vice president of marketing and president and CEO of its consumer business unit, effective immediately,
according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
Sassi's termination was without cause and he will stay on at WellPoint until early March to assist with the transition of his duties, according to the filing.
In December, 2010, Sassi took on additional duties
when two executives left WellPoint as part of a streamlining at the insurer
A WellPoint spokeswoman declined comment on Sassi's departure.
