The Cambridge (Mass.) Health Alliance has tapped Patrick Wardell for the CEO position at the 172-bed hospital.
Wardell, 59, currently is the president and CEO of Hurley Medical Center, a 418-bed hospital in Flint, Mich.,
according to a news release. He replaces
Dennis Keefe, who resigned this past summer when he was named CEO of the Care New England Health System in Providence, R.I.
Prior to joining Hurley Medical Center, Wardell has held executive positions at several hospitals, including St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, N.J. and Montefiore Medical Center and the University Hospital for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, N.Y.
The CHA’s board of trustees reviewed three finalists for the position and selected Wardell, who is expected to join CHA in March, at a Jan. 24 board meeting. Allison Bayer, executive vice president and COO, has served as acting CEO during the transition period.
